JULY 2008 - LOCAL RADIO Plays Live At Sarah's and Richie Robinson Jazz N Blues.

It seems the word is getting around, prompting announcers from local radio stations 5MBS and RADIO ADELAIDE to come in and see Richie play. Live at Sarah's has been on the Adelaide Jazz scene for around 10 months now, and the list of performers to date includes some very note-worhty local and interstate performers.

Many of these performers have been part of the Live at Sarah's CD recording project. Volume 1 is due out very soon, and it is a fabulous way to experience a number of Adelaide finest jazz & blues artists on one CD, in very raw and intimate performances. Part proceeds from the CDs will raise funds for childrens charity.

You can hear tracks from the CD from late October during Jazz Lunch - 5MBS - 99.9 - Monday to Sunday - 12 till 2pm , and from early September during Jazz on the Terrace - Radio Adelaide - 101.5 FM - Monday to Friday - 12 noon till 1pm.

SEPTEMBER 2008 - WEST END MIUSIC FESTIVAL - Live At Sarah's Feature Event -

FEELING THE BLUES an anniversary tribute to Russel Johnson
As part of the West End Music Festival Live At Sarahs will present special event Feeling the Blues. The night is dedicated to Adelaide guitarist Russel Johnson, and his untimely death during the inaugural West End Music Festival last year. In the intimate & acoustic style of Live At Sarah's, the front man for the Hiptones, Snooks McVie will kick off events at 6pm with a set alonside Richie Robinson. If you've not yet seen or heard Snooks, you can check him out at the Live At Sarah's page. Members from Russell's band will be onstage at 9pm, with a jazz & blues set, and a couple of Russel's original tunes

The intimate jazz and dining evenings that began on Wednesdays in October last year have been successful with both diners and people dropping into the bar to listen and relax.

Acoustic Jazz Duos Step Up the Pace

Richie's Acoustic Jazz Duos, initially developed in 2004 with a variety of musicians, is set to become a more regular thing. Following a series of successful duo gigs since that time, Richie will be teaming up with Adelaide's finest on Saxophone, flute, trombone, violin, and harmonica for another series of gigs throughout 2007.

Audio Lab Productions Australia, Adelaide production house for various albums, promos, and soundtracks, is aiming to move closer to the city in 2007. This will make it more accessible to for project development and rehearsals in the coming year.

Daily Rotation on National Radio for Farkaster & Billy Lofton

Farkaster production (AKA Australian guitarist Richie Robinson) Baby I Love Your Way is currently downloaded by over 150 Australian radio stations, and goes onto rotation 4 times a day on national radio station Nova - from Monday Sept 4th.

On the international scene, the single is due to be launched in 12 countries simultaneously by Emporium Music, along with 6 albums, 4 singles, and 4 videos  from various international artists.

Emporium Music has branches in USA, Canada, England, Japan, China, Australia, Italy, France, Spain, New Zealand, Singapore, and Bulgaria. New branches will be opening in London, NYC, Paris, and Germany in September 2006.

Billy Lofton & Farkaster Single Release Makes Top 5

Statistics this week from Music Point show downloads to radio of the single Baby I Love Your Way rose to number 5. This follows the release on Aug 23, and is an excellent position among the competition from major companies and artists world-wide. The single is the latest offering from American born RnB singer Billy Lofton, and is produced by Farkaster ( AKA Australian guitarist Richie Robinson).

Billy Takes Front Cover of Music Network Magazine

Billy Lofton takes front cover of Music Network Magazine - Australia's leading music industry magazine. Word has come in from multiple sources that Baby I Love Your Way will be a major hit, this includes contacts from EMI and SONY.

Record Label Emporium Music, publisher Blue Pie, and Billy Lofton are working on marketing plans to launch the new Baby I Love Your Way to the world.

Meantime, producer Farkaster (AKA Australian guitarist Richie Robinson) is completing production of the album due to be released in time for Christmas.

All concerned are very pleased with the progress and we are sure that all the fans will too.

Blue Pie Signs International Recording Deal with Emporium Music

Publisher Blue Pie is extremely pleased to announce that they have signed an international recording agreement for Billy Lofton with Sydney's EMPORIUM MUSIC. This will see EMPORIUM release the hot dance single Baby I Love Your Way followed up with Billy Lofton's album Love's No Longer Being Served.

This is an exciting time for all concerned. Blue Pie and Emporium Music congratulate Farkaster AKA Richie Robinson on his excellent work behind the desk. Farkaster produced Baby I Love Your Way and the hot ballad Love's No Longer Being Served. 

We expect to see Billy racing up the charts in the months to come.

Releases in the planning

After many years as a full-timer on the circuit, Richie Robinson has finally been convinced to use his formidable guitar skills as the focus of a series of recordings. This comes as a result of Richie taking on management for the first time.

Though having worked as a session player on numerous recordings, and being a frontline player on-stage, most of Richie's recorded work is as a backline player. New management found some difficulty in  overcoming Richie's humble attitude, which until now, has stopped much of his frontline guitar playing from being recorded.

Samples of the new works will be available soon at Richie Robinson.com. Samples of old works with Richie in the frontline are also becoming available.

Solo Acoustic Shows

Long awaited solo acoustic gigs with Richie Robinson finally get underway at lunch-time (12.30) Fri December 9th & 16th at the Lipson Cafe in Port Adelaide.

This is an opportunity to see a solo jazz & blues playing style 20 years in the making, and (the food us fabulous!!) it will make a lovely end to anybody's' work week.

Baby I Love Your Way - Billy Lofton

Key people like Dionne Warwick, Kool from Kool and the Gang and Tony Hillier  have hailed this as a great dance version and possibly one of the best covers of the song. Billy has made the song his own. Music veterans from both Britain and the US  feel the comeback of “Baby I Love Your Way” on the  airwaves  will be an instant hit, especially with the upcoming summer season.

Return from China.

Richie has returned from China with a bunch of new-found instruments in hand. Alongside various shaped wind instruments is a stringed instrument called a "pipa". It's much like a Chinese version of a lute or a mandolin with very tall frets. Its sound is "lute-ish", and also has a faint resemblance to a banjo. Richie got some very odd looks from the locals in China when he played duelling bangos on it!

World Environment Day - Adelaide Botanic Gardens

What a fabulous day! It was like a day in spring, not winter! Snorkel Simpson Spleenwart, the worlds most amazing guitarist and singing gardener, had kids, teachers, and mums and dads all dancing, singing, and laughing their heads off!.

Some kids got to join in Snorkels' band, and there was even a quick course in air guitar for a lucky few. Everybody learned something new from the fabulous staff and their presentations at the gardens. Other entertainers on the day included inimitable world famous singing scientist, Professor Elliot Gnash!

Billy Lofton vs Farkaster remixes voted 5/5 stars in the UK.

Remixes of the Peter Frampton song "Baby I Love Your Way" by Farkaster - featuring vocals by Billy Lofton, have been given 5 out of 5 stars by audiences in the UK. The trax are now being distributed to digital release sites around the globe by publisher Blue Pie. Recent reviews by DJs in the US rated the "Hard On Mix" at 7/10.

The trax will soon be heading to clubs and events in Oz, so keep your ears to the ground. Also picking up some good feedback is the RnB track "Love's No Longer Being Served". The song, penned by Billy and friends is heading for inclusion in RnB playlists in the US.

Billy Lofton vs Farkaster remixes picked up by DJs in the US.

Farkaster remixes of the Peter Frampton song "Baby I Love Your Way" have been picked up by a number of DJs in the US, and the trax are receiving positive reviews. This is a good start to the Billy Lofton vs Farkaster (aka Richie Robinson) team. Billy has a fabulous vocal sound, with an emotive sense of interpretation and expression. The Farkaster RnB and dance vibes gives Billy's' vocals room to breathe, while keeping all the groove in the right places. A song penned by Billy and friends is next in line for inclusion in RnB playlists.

Kaurna Plains School music program.

Richie has joined the music tutoring staff at the Kaurna Plains School. He will be passing on some of his hard-earned studio and live technical experience, as well as  some formidable guitar skills. The program also aims to provide students with some studio experience by producing a cd of the students' performances later in the year.

The search for Dolfin Island.

Celebrations after a very successful series of shows for children at the Maritime Museum in Port Adelaide. The 40 to 50 minute play was one of many "Edutainment" shows the Richie has worked up with Michael Mills from "The Book Place" on national ABC TV. The show was staged on a replica of a ship used for coastal transport before roads where built in SA.

By popular demand, the show will return for one day only in March as part of outdoor celebrations at Semaphore.

"Adelaide Bands Together" to raise funds for the Tsunami victims in Asia.

The event raised many thousands of dollars for the Boxing Day Tsunami victims. Some of the finest talent available in South Australia came together to take their turn on the stage. Special thanks to Dwight Adams & the Governor Hindmarsh.

Acoustic shows with DC Acoustic.

Richie is doing some shows with Dino Jag La Vista, in early Dec. With a weeks notice on the gigs, and around 40 new songs to learn Richie is flat out getting them up to speed. Dino is working with a number of musicians around the country. More shows will be coming up with Dino & Richie in the new year. Check DC Acoustic for dates.

Richie is also doing a few shows with Catherine Lambert over the silly season. Shows for the public include;

• an acoustic duo with the Christmas Carol celebrations in Adelaide's Wellington Square Sunday 12. (from about 7.30)
• a good fun blast ( and a bit of a re-visit to the 70's) at Horizon's nightclub with the Catherine Lambert Band Saturday 11.

November - Dec 2004

Work shopping sound principles with students at Salisbury High School.

The year nine students showcased their talents in singing, dancing, and public speaking for various schools visiting their campus. As part of the performance, a few students worked with Richie, taking on the roles of sound tech assistants, stage assistants, and roadies.

Richie passed on some of his experience picked up from working on shows such as Elton John, Billy Joel, and INXS.

"By the end of their first 5-day run, these young people were practically running the show themselves! Their interest, ability, and energy levels were huge" said Richie.

Richie is looking forward to doing more with them in the coming year.

November 2004

Fiji's finest jazz performers, and guitar icon, Tom Mawi.

During Richie's November tour of Fiji, he met up with guitar icon Tom Mawi. They played in Suva on the main island's South Coast. Tom showed his mastery on bass, and sweetened up the rhythm section as Richie played guitar. Superb international performer, Michelle Rounds, carried the vocals. Her exuberance, melodic flair, and mesmerising tone make her a magnetic performer. A fabulous time was had by all.

Audio lab is exploring ways to bring the music of Fiji to more people around the world. A compliment more than well deserved by so many absolutely fabulous musicians in and from Fiji.

October 2004

Move to SX3

Audio Lab changes up from Cubase VST to Cubase SX3. This is absolutely top-of-the-line software. Equipment in the studio is constantly pushing state of the art technology. The next major upgrade for the studio is to bring the mixing room up to 5.1. to compliment the software. Currently 5.1 is post mixed and mastered off site.

Debut album for Billy Lofton

Richie is currently working through ideas for the debut album from Billy Lofton. Due for release early 2005. The album explores earthy acoustic sounds, classic orchestration, and original electronica sounds, all tastefully set in a soulful R&B mood. Maturely crafted lyrics provide the perfect vehicle for the sensual vocals of Billy Lofton. Some of the country's finest studio musicians will sit in on the supporting roles.

Acoustic Duo, Johnston & Mr B, gearing up for 2005

There is also another album in the works, from Jazz Duo Johnston & Mr B. This will be a unique experience for the players and audience alike. More on that soon.
