LIVE AT SARAH'S is the brainchild of Richie Robinson, and began on Wednesdays in October 2007. The evenings introduced intimate acoustic jazz and blues to the live scene in Adelaide. The evenings were extended to include Fridays, and now Live At Sarah's is held on Fridays only.
So far, many established and acclaimed local artists have performed with Richie in the stripped-back, down-to-earth fashion that is the LIVE AT SARAH'S trademark.
Richie has been a working performer since 1975, and a full-time performing guitarist since 1984. As a professional musician Richie has performed in Fiji, China, in countless SA venues, and in many notable nightclub venues across Australia over his many years as a full-time touring musician.
As well as running numerous local and full-time touring bands for almost three decades with much of the cream of Adelaide's jazz, blues, and pop scene, Richie has jammed with numerous celebrity artists including the Stevie Wonder Band, and John & James Morrison.
A winner of a number of songwriting awards, Richie's material includes independent releases, appearances on a number of compilation releases, and releases as a signed artist. His songs and productions have enjoyed radio success in Indonesia, College Radio in the US, alongside regular local and national radio in Australia.
Regular national airplay includes a release with New York born singer Billy Lofton, where he made the front cover of Music Network Magazine ahead of the alternative Keith Urban for that release. While on the same label, in the role of producer and guitarist, Richie has released material with Paul McCartney's guitarist Rusty Anderson.
Alongside his band work, Richie's professional experience has been rounded out with music video clips, writing music for local film, and working as an extra alongside Mel Gibson and Mark Lee on the movie Gallipoli in 1979. Richie has since made numerous television appearances, including Bert Newton's New Faces back in 1981, and most recently on the ABC's Beat the Chef.
Richie's audio experience extends beyond that of a studio producer to working with live sound and stage. He began learning as a teenager on-the-job as with double four-way and five-way production systems during set-up for band gigs.
This eventually got Richie onto setups with major and international names including Fat Boy Slim, Michael Jackson, Tool, Billy Joel, INXS, and Elton John just to name a few. Due to Richie's studio expertise setting up live/electronic drum sounds, he was personally invited by the Elton John production crew to be the local drum tech assistant on the Back to Back tour.
In short, Richie has a tremendous amount of experience to draw on when offering established local, interstate, and international musicians an opportunity to expand their Adelaide audience.
LIVE AT SARAH'S gives musicians the space to step outside their normal performance context to project their years of experience as acclaimed musicians in an intimate, dynamic, and expressive environment. |
